Principal's Corner

From: The Principal's Corner
My name is Byron Fair, and I am honored to serve as the Director of the Pickens County College and Career Center. As a graduate of Gordo High School and lifelong member of Pickens County, it means a great deal to be able to serve the students and families of this community in such a meaningful way.
Before stepping into this role, I served as Principal at Gordo Elementary School, where I had the privilege of leading a dedicated team focused on student growth and community connection. Prior to that, I served as Assistant Principal at both Gordo Elementary and Gordo High School, gaining valuable experience across grade levels and school settings. I began my career in education teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes at Gordo High School, which helped shape my passion for preparing students for real-world success.
I earned both my undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama, and later completed my Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree at Arkansas State University.
In my role at the College and Career Center, I’m committed to helping students explore their interests, develop in-demand skills, and graduate with purpose. I believe in the power of strong partnerships between schools, families, and local industry—and I’m excited to help build those bridges.
My wife, Courtney, and I are blessed to raise our two children—Nora (9) and BK (5)—right here in Pickens County. We’re grateful to be part of this incredible community and excited about what’s ahead for our students and schools.
